Outreach Paused Due to Lack of Volunteers
Outreach Paused Due to Lack of Volunteers

In November 2025, Patchwork StreetBridge received official recognition from the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. This milestone affirmed our work and strengthened our ability to pursue funding, partnerships, and long-term sustainability while remaining grounded in street-level, harm-reduction outreach.

At the same time, our day-to-day operations have temporarily stalled due to a lack of volunteer capacity.

Patchwork StreetBridge is a small, people-powered organization. Our outreach depends on trained volunteers willing to be present on the street, distributing survival gear and hygiene supplies, supporting overdose prevention, and maintaining consistent, trusted contact with people living unhoused, many of whom are navigating severe mental illness and substance use disorders.

Without enough hands and hearts on the ground, we cannot safely or effectively operate at the level our community needs.

This pause does not reflect a loss of mission, commitment, or need. The need has never gone away. The cold still comes. Crises still happen. People are still out there, unseen, at risk, and waiting for someone to show up.

We are actively seeking volunteers who can help us restart and sustain outreach, including:

  • Street outreach and supply distribution
  • Packing kits and organizing gear
  • Wellness check-ins and follow-up support
  • Behind-the-scenes logistical and administrative help

No one is expected to "fix" anyone. We do not demand recovery. We do not judge. We show up, reduce harm, and help people stay alive long enough to choose what comes next.

If you have time, compassion, and a willingness to meet people where they are, we need you.

This moment is a reminder that recognition alone does not keep people alive. People do. Community does.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Patchwork StreetBridge, believed in this work, and stood with us. With renewed volunteer support, we can resume outreach and continue protecting life, preserving dignity, and reducing harm where it matters most, on the street.

Patchwork Streetbridge Celebrates State Charity Status, Marking A New Chapter For Street-Level Harm-Reduction Work
Patchwork Streetbridge Celebrates State Charity Status, Marking A New Chapter For Street-Level Harm-Reduction Work

Patchwork Streetbridge, a street-level harm reduction and mobile outreach organization, announced yesterday that it has officially been granted state charity status, a milestone the startup says will expand its ability to meet people where they are and save lives on the street.

The designation, received on November 25, 2025, validates the young organization's rapid growth and its commitment to providing practical, life-preserving support to people living unhoused. For the team, it also marks the beginning of a new phase: one where community trust, volunteer power, and sustainable funding can scale together.

"Receiving state charity status isn't just a bureaucratic step, it's a sign that the work we're doing matters," said Patchwork Streetbridge staff in a joint statement. "It strengthens our foundation and allows us to reach more people with the gear, tools, and compassionate presence they deserve."

Patchwork Streetbridge operates on a simple but powerful model: direct, person-to-person outreach. The crew distributes survival necessities including weather-appropriate clothing, ground mats, tarps, hygiene kits, overdose prevention tools, and more, while maintaining regular, relationship-based contact with individuals experiencing homelessness, including those living with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. Their approach prioritizes dignity, consistency, and crisis prevention.

The organization also offers voluntary wellness check-ins and connections to local recovery, mental health, and housing resources. "Our goal is always harm reduction, always humanity first," the team said. "We focus on reducing avoidable crises, preventing overdoses, and being a stable presence for people who are too often left out of traditional systems."

With its new charity status in place, Patchwork Streetbridge plans to pursue expanded outreach routes, strengthen its gear distribution operations, and deepen partnerships with local service providers. The team says the designation will help attract new donors and volunteers, and ensure that every dollar of support can be translated rapidly into lifesaving gear and direct street outreach.

As winter approaches, the milestone could not come at a better time.

"People's lives depend on timely outreach," the team noted. "Now we can do even more."

For community members looking to get involved, Patchwork Streetbridge encourages people to follow upcoming announcements about volunteer opportunities and winter drive supply needs.

Patchwork StreetBridge Postpones First Board Meeting
Grassroots Nonprofit Solidifies Leadership to Tackle Homelessness Ahead of Winter

In a significant milestone toward full nonprofit operations, Patchwork StreetBridge successfully held its first official Board of Directors meeting on October 18, 2025, marking the formal adoption of its Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and the election of key officers.

The meeting, held at Hello Darling Café in Denver, followed an earlier organizational meeting earlier in the month and signals the grassroots nonprofit's transition from startup phase to operational launch. Patchwork StreetBridge is dedicated to providing direct outreach and critical survival support to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Denver.

Formal Structure Adopted

During the meeting, the Board unanimously approved and adopted the Amended Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws—key documents that define the organization's mission, governance model, and legal structure. This adoption clears the path for Patchwork StreetBridge to file for 501(c)(3) status and begin seeking public and private grant funding.

"This is a defining moment for us," said Stacy Hall, Founder and newly elected Chief Operating Officer. "We've moved from foundational planning into formal governance. Now, we're ready to scale our impact and move quickly to meet the urgent needs on our streets."

Board Elections and Leadership Appointments

The Board also held elections for its executive leadership:

Paul Giesler was elected as President and appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Stacy Hall was elected Secretary and appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Katie Sturniolo was elected Treasurer

A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position was also created to strengthen future fiscal oversight, though the role remains vacant as the organization evaluates candidates and needs.

Next Steps and Immediate Priorities

With its leadership team and governance structure now in place, Patchwork StreetBridge is moving full steam ahead with early operational goals:

  • Filing for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS
  • Recruiting additional board members to support growth and diversity of thought
  • Expanding outreach operations as colder weather increases the risks for Denver's unsheltered community
  • Building strategic partnerships with local service providers and donors

A Grassroots Mission with Urgency

Patchwork StreetBridge currently operates mobile outreach to provide sleeping bags, ground mats, blankets, hygiene kits, and harm reduction supplies directly to those living outdoors. The group also offers transportation support to connect people with medical care, shelter, or recovery services.

"We're not waiting for permission to act—we're already out there responding to crisis needs," said CEO Paul Giesler. "But with this new structure, we can do more, faster, and with the backing we need to sustain and grow our work."

Get Involved

Patchwork StreetBridge welcomes volunteers, donors, and potential board members who want to make a direct impact in addressing homelessness in Denver.

Looking Ahead

With leadership and a clear governance framework coming into focus, Patchwork StreetBridge is now preparing for its next board meeting, where formal adoption of the Articles and Bylaws is expected. These steps will enable the organization to proceed with its 501(c)(3) filing, opening the door to grant funding and expanded outreach capacity.

Patchwork StreetBridge Postpones First Board Meeting, Remains Hopeful and Urgent Amid Rising Need

Patchwork StreetBridge, a new nonprofit dedicated to providing life-saving supplies and support to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness, has postponed its inaugural board meeting originally scheduled for October 1st due to the absence of a third board member needed to fulfill federal nonprofit filing requirements.

While the delay pauses formal steps toward securing 501(c)(3) status, the team behind Patchwork StreetBridge is moving forward with hope and urgency.

"This is just a temporary pause, not a setback," said Mr. Stacy Hall, Founder of Patchwork StreetBridge. "We are confident the right person will step forward soon to help us meet the final requirement so we can fully launch our mission."

Patchwork StreetBridge operates on the principle of meeting people exactly where they are, both literally and emotionally. Through mobile outreach, the organization delivers vital survival essentials such as sleeping bags, ground mats, sleeping bags, coats, socks, hygiene kits, and harm reduction tools directly to individuals living outdoors. In moments of crisis, access to safe transportation can mean the difference between harm and healing. That's why Patchwork StreetBridge offers crisis transport to connect individuals with urgent care, mental health services, or treatment programs. The goal is to remove barriers, respond without judgment, and ensure no one is left to face a crisis alone.

In addition, the organization offers consistent, compassionate wellness check-ins, suicide prevention support, and overdose response—building trust over time with individuals who have often been failed by traditional systems of care.

As fall weather grows colder and winter approaches, the timing of the nonprofit's mission becomes increasingly critical.

"The need is growing by the day," said Mr. Hall. "We are already connecting with people on the streets, but formalizing our nonprofit status will open the door to grants, partnerships, and wider community support. All we need is one more board member—someone with a heart for service and a willingness to help us complete the legal foundation of our work."

Patchwork StreetBridge is currently seeking a Secretary for its Board of Directors—a volunteer position that requires basic recordkeeping, communication, and a shared commitment to the nonprofit's mission.

Those interested in joining the board or supporting Patchwork StreetBridge's outreach efforts are encouraged to reach out using the online contact form or by sending email to .

"This bridge is already being built—one person, one care kit, one conversation at a time. We're just looking for that next person to help us anchor the foundation."
