Shelter & Protection

Survival Starts with Shelter

Shelter is Survival. Dignity is Non-Negotiable.

We provide critical survival tools directly to individuals where they are, without judgment or preconditions.

No one should have to sleep exposed to the elements. Access to basic shelter such as a tent, tarp, or sleeping bag can mean the difference between surviving the night or not. For people experiencing homelessness, especially those living with mental illness or substance use disorders, these supplies are more than gear — they're protection, privacy, and dignity.

What We Provide

Protection with Purpose. Dignity Without Conditions.

Our mobile teams distribute essential items for shelter and personal protection based on seasonal needs, environmental risk, and individual circumstances:

  • Ground Mats: Thick, insulated mats or sleeping pads create a barrier between your body and the cold ground, improving comfort and warmth for those sleeping outdoors.
  • Tarps: Versatile and lightweight, tarps offer an extra layer of protection from rain, wind, and cold ground surfaces.
  • Sleeping Bags & Blankets: High-quality sleeping bags help preserve body heat, prevent hypothermia, and support basic rest.
  • Backpacks & Storage Bags: Sturdy backpacks allow individuals to carry and protect their belongings — often everything they own — as they move between locations or services.
  • Cold Weather Gear (Seasonal): We distribute coats, gloves, hats, thermal socks, and emergency blankets in winter months.
  • Heat Relief Gear (Seasonal): In extreme heat, we provide shade tarps, light clothing, cooling towels, and hydration support.

Why It Matters

Living unsheltered in harsh conditions shouldn't exist within the human condition

Access to basic survival supplies—like a tent, a dry pair of socks, or a clean sleeping bag—can mean the difference between life and death, especially for individuals living unsheltered in harsh conditions. Beyond physical protection, these items also communicate respect, dignity, and care.

Our outreach model depends on having the right gear, at the right time, in the right place, and distributed directly, without bureaucracy or conditions.

  • Stay safer in extreme weather
  • Maintain personal dignity and a sense of space
  • Protect their belongings and medications
  • Sleep with fewer interruptions and threats
  • Preserve mental and physical health

These basic tools help individuals stabilize, regain a sense of control, and access the emotional space required to begin engaging with longer-term assistance.

No Strings Attached

Help Without Barriers. Assistance Without Conditions.

We don't require sobriety, paperwork, or readiness to receive shelter supplies. If someone is outside and in need, that's enough for us. Our outreach teams offer gear with compassion, respect, and a trauma-informed approach, because survival is not a privilege. It's a right.

How You Can Help

Small Actions. Big Protection.

We rely on donations and community support to keep our shelter gear stocked. Here's how you can contribute:

  • Donate new or gently used tarps, sleeping bags, ground mats, and backpacks
  • Sponsor a seasonal survival kit
  • Contribute funds to help us purchase high-demand items
  • Organize a drive in your community

Every item given is one less night someone has to suffer unprotected.

Lisa sat near the transit center in Aurora, beside a transformer and a closed business parking lot, with only a few boxes and a floor mat to shield her from the cold. She caught our attention as she noticeably spoke to herself, rocking back and forth against the chill. When we approached, she told us she had nothing to protect her from the frigid night. We found her just in time and gave her a warm sleeping bag. She cried as she thanked us. This is how it begins—not with conditions, but with compassion for human dignity. And that's why we keep showing up. (Aurora, Nov 4, 2025)
